Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySISTER RITA BOULIANNE Fille De La Croix (Sister of the Cross) On Wednesday, January 5, 2000, Sister Rita Boulianne (Sr. Marie-Anne), Sister of the Cross, passed away very peacefully at the Victoria Hospital, after a lengthy illness and a recent bout of pneumonia at the age of 91 years and 67 years of religious profession. She was the only remaining member of her family, having been predeceased by her parents, three sisters, Maura, Yvette and Clemence and four brothers, Jean-Charles, Raymond, Roland and Real. She is survived by three sisters-in-law, Yvonne Dupereault, Simone Rodrigue and Beatrice Beaulne and is lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. She was born in Ste. Zoe des Bergeronnes, Que. on December 13, 1908. Her father Isaure and her mother Anna Couillard left the East in the early 1900s to come to Willow-Bunch, Saskatchewan, where Sister received her education with the Sisters of the Cross. After her religious training in France, Sister Rita came back to Canada to serve her Community in many ways. She was house-mother to many generations of boarders. She was a kind and understanding person, but she knew how to demand the best of everyone. Neatness and order were her motto. Her musical talents were very much appreciated by her numerous piano students and the many trophies received at the Musical Festivals of the localities, attest to her patient coaching and encouraging efforts towards perfection. She will be remembered by the church and school choirs she conducted. She will be missed by the Sisters of the Cross and her family. Very heartfelt and sincere thanks to the wonderful nursing staff of the Community, who gave our dear Sister such kind, compassionate and loving care, during her long illness - to the Home Care nurses for their help and to the staff of the Victoria Hospital for their consideration and kindness during her last days. Prayers will be on Friday, January 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Provincial House of the Sisters of the Cross, 66 Moore Avenue. The Mass of the Resurrection will follow on Saturday, January 8 at the same address at 10:30 a.m. His Grace Bishop Noel Delaquis will preside with Father Louis-Philippe Jean concelebrating.
