WILLIAM JOHN FRANCIS (FRANK) MacDONALD On Thursday, January 6, 2000, William John Francis (Frank) MacDonald of 700 Setter Street, passed away after a long battle with cancer at the Grace General Hospital. Frank was born to Alex and Della MacDonald on January 22, 1919 in Rosetown, Saskatchewan. He was the fourth son in a family of six boys and two girls. He attended public and high school in Hughton, Saskatchewan. During the depression in 1937, Frank left home for Manitoba where he worked his entire life. From 1937 to 1942 he worked as a Foreman building grain elevators and airports. In 1942 he went to work for the United Grain Growers Company until he retired in 1981. In 1981 Frank then began employment for the Manitoba Crop Insurance, working out of the Stonewall office for nine years. He was then asked by the Manitoba Government to be Tribunal Adjuster for all of Manitoba. Due to illness, Frank retired in October of 1996. For many years Frank could be found on weekends judging horse classes at Country Fairs or judging 4H classes at rallies. He also judged at many Seed Fairs. Besides his loving wife and friend Mabel of 60 years of marriage, Frank is survived by one son Ronald and his wife Raylene; one granddaughter Catherine Newcombe; two brothers, Al (June) of Rosetown and Cliff (Betty) of Saskatoon; two sisters, Mary Fisher (Doug) of Rosetown and Vi Barry (Al) of Kindersley; two sisters-in-law, Chris MacDonald of Niagara on the Lake and Mary MacDonald of Rosetown. Frank was predeceased by his parents and three brothers, Donald, George and James and by great-grandson Kenneth Newcombe. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 10 at 11:00 a.m. in John XXIII Roman Catholic Church - Assiniboia Christian Centre, 3390 Portage Avenue at Rouge Road with Rev. Msgr. Norman J. Chartrand, P.H., presiding. We the family, would like to extend our many thanks to the doctors, nurses and all the care givers on 4 West at the Grace General Hospital for all their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made in Franks memory to the Manitoba Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation, 100 Olivia Street, Wpg, MB, R3E 0V9.
