Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLENA MAKSEMCHUK (AUNTIE LENA) Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 5, 2000 at Betel Home, Selkirk, at the age of 83 years. Lena was born in Camp Morton, Manitoba on January 1, 1917. As a young girl she moved to Selkirk with her sister Rosie and brother-in-law Dymtro where they owned and operated Rybaks Store for many years. Lena was a very caring and devoted Auntie and was loved by all. She enjoyed working in the garden and her many outings with her family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Anna, and her three sisters, Mary, Rosie and Doris. Lena is survived by her only niece Florence Meger and her great-niece and nephews Holly (Raqib), Gord (Shelley) and Keith and her many dear friends. Funeral service will be held at The Anglican Parish of Christ Church, 227 McLean Avenue, Selkirk on Saturday, January 8 at 11:00 a.m. with The Rev. Glenda Drew officiating. Viewing will be held at Gilbarts Funeral Home, 309 Eveline St. from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment to follow in the St. Clements Cemetery, Selkirk. Pallbearers will be Gordon Meger, Keith Meger, Joe Olafson, Watson Stevenson, Bill Bodman, and Wally Helgason. The family would like to thank the girls from Selkirk Home Care and the staff of Betel Home, Selkirk for all the help and support given to Lena. To Drs. A. Wozny and F. Aoki a special thanks for their kindness and compassion over the years. In Lenas memory, should friends so desire, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, 200-55 Donald Avenue, Winnipeg, or a charity of their choice.
