John leaves to mourn, Lillian, his loving and devoted wife of 57 years; daughters, Carolyn (Peter) Eastwick, Phyllis (Dan) Black, and son John; grandchildren, Kevin, Pam and Linda and great-granddaughters Jessica and Taryn. He also leaves his brother Dr. Ross (Mae) Moir of St. Paul, Minnesota and numerous nephews and nieces. John was predeceased by sisters, Alice, Evelyn and brother Bruce. He graduated from the U. of M. faculty of Pharmacy in 1940. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy and trained in Esquimault, serving in Halifax and Ottawa. He remained a member of the Naval Officers Association and was Past President. After the war he returned to Winnipeg and along with his brother Bruce, were proprietors of Osborne Drugs, a Fort Rouge neighbourhood landmark. They closed the store in August, 1981. Right Worshipful Brother John was an active member of the Fort Garry Masonic Lodge #130 A.F. & A.M. and was a past master. He was also Honorary Life Member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Perfection. In 1992 John was bestowed the title of Honorary District Deputy Grand Master, for which he and the family were very proud. John enjoyed many years at Lake Winnipeg with the family. Memories abound of the weekends together as well as the great BBQ roast dinners served on the porch. The Horticultural Society and the Red River Exhibition Flower Show were interests that John enjoyed along with Lillian. They were both very active in these organizations. The family thank all the staff of the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg for the wonderful care and attention given to our husband, father and grandfather.
