She leaves to mourn, her sons, Donald and wife Shirley and Randy and wife Heather; grandchildren, Heather and Brian Fridfinnson and Donna and Allan Wishnowski and Robert Sigurdson and wife Roberta Anderson, Ryan Sigurdson, and Lana Sigurdson; also her great-grandchildren, Joel and Laura Fridfinnson and Brent Wishnowski and Karen Magnea Sigurdson; and sister-in-law Margaret Whiteway, and dear friend Gudrun Johannson. Magnea was predeceased by her husband Arthur in September of 1997 and her son Arthur Jr. in September of 1958; parents, Olafur and Ragnheidur Johnson; sisters, Sella Johnson, Freda Danielson, Anna Johannesson and brothers, Barney, Kjartan, Oli Johnson and step-brother Paul Kristjanson. Magnea was born on May 9, 1907, the youngest child of Olafur and Ragnheidur Johnson. She lived in Arborg all her life, attending Ardal School and taking piano lessons from the Sisters of St. Benedict in Arborg. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her life revolved around her home, her family, her music and her church. Magnea taught piano lessons as a teenager and continued until shortly before she went to reside in the Personal Care Home. All her grandchildren took lessons from Amma. Many an hour was spent at the piano as she accompanied her husband while he played the violin, or she simply played for her own pleasure. Magnea was an active member of the Ardal Lutheran Church from early childhood. She taught Sunday School for many years and was the organist and choir director for over 60 years. Magnea was a member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid for many years until it disbanded in 1987. Her other interests included playing bridge, curling (she was an honorary member of the Arborg Curling Club), knitting and crocheting, and daily "mola sopi" with Gudrun. After retirement Magnea and Arthur enjoyed traveling and spent many winters at their home in Deerfield Beach, Florida. They celebrated 67 years of marriage on September 27, 1997. Funeral services will be held at the Ardal Geysir Lutheran Church at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 8 with Pastor Otto Christensen officiating. The pallbearers will be all of her grandchildren. In accordance with Magneas wishes the service will terminate at the church. Cremation will take place with a private family interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. The family wishes to thank all the staff from the Arborg and District HealthCentre and the home care workers who provided care for Magnea over the past few years. Goda Nott Amma Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
