Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERNA STRONG (nee POPADYNEC) After a lengthy illness and a courageous battle, Erna passed away on January 3, 2000 at St. Boniface Hospital. Mom was born in Wynard, SK on May 29, 1945. She spent her adult years in South Transcona where she and her husband Jerry raised their three daughters. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Alec and Fanny; brothers, Joe and Raymond; and her dear friend Barb Jaman. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Jerry; her daughters, Sherry (Richard) Reid, Carrie (Reuben) Pye and Penny (Dave) Hall. She will be missed also by four grandchildren, Darlene, Michael, Steven, Josh; and her special "stepson" Darren Kerr. She will be lovingly remembered by her family: sister Vi (Stan) Johnson, sister-in-law Hazel, sister Margaret (Floyd) Rothenburger, brother Walter (Eileen) Popadynec, numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and Gordon and Tilly Strong, her special friends Sandra and Sharon Kosowan, as well as numerous close friends and co-workers too many to mention. She knows you know who YOU are! Moms hobbies were mainly crafts, sewing and baking which she shared with everyone. Erna touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to have known her. Her unique sense of humour and her unconditional love for anyone who came into her life will be missed. A couple of Moms greatest passions were Bingo and Elvis, so wed like to believe shes playing Bingo with Elvis right now. Anyone who had the opportunity to visit with Mom during her last few months will always remember her courage, humour and strength and above all, her concern for what her illness was doing to you - not herself! Rest in Peace, Mom. We will always love you. P.S. Enjoy your dance with Elvis. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff on the cancer ward at St. Boniface. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. At Moms request, no memorial service will take place.
