She was predeceased by her daughter Aureen DSouza and her parents, John and Leonora Dias. Simona was born in Karachi Pakistan; her profession was teaching and she enjoyed this career until she chose to marry and start a family in her early 20s. She immigrated to Canada in 1981 where she continued to take care of her family. Her children were her pride and joy and her grandchildren could do no wrong in her eyes. Simona was a person with many, many talents. One of her many talents included art work, which she enjoyed doing and also contributed to the local church for use on various religious garments and altar cloths. Aside from her art work, she also enjoyed dancing and found comfort in singing. She enjoyed baking but cooking was least on her list - nevertheless, she did her best. She was a very loving and gentle mother, grandmother and a caring and sincere friend to many. The needs of others always came before her own. Every person that had the privilege of knowing her will remember what a uniquely special person she was. Prayers will be said on Monday, January 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 11 at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Charles RC Church, 320 St. Charles St. Interment to follow in the Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. The family would like to extend their thanks to the Grace General Hospital nursing staff in the ICU for their excellent care, Rev. Msgr. Moore for his support, and all the many friends and well wishers.
