PHILLIP DONALD LA FORTE 1941 - 2000 On January 4, 2000 after a brief illness, Don passed over to join his loved ones who have gone before him. Don is survived by his loving and devoted wife Phyllis; sons, Barry La Forte, Jeff La Forte (Shirley) and daughter Kim Cardinell. He is also survived by his grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Timothy Courchene, Eric Don Cote, Jordon Riediger, Carmella La Forte, Marlon La Forte, and Joshua, Destiny and Avery La Forte; his brothers, Dave Rundle (Delphine), Lawrence Rundle, Gilbert Sinclair (Debbie) and sisters, Vina Rundle, Josephine Daniels and Doreen Rundle; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Don was predeceased by his father Phillip; mother Eva; grandmother Annie Johnston; brothers, Felix La Forte, Leo Daniels and Percy Rundle; and sisters, Marlene Grysdale and Bernice Rundle. Don was a very talented artist and dedicated teacher. In 1981 he obtained his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Manitoba, and in 1988, his Bachelor of Education (U of M). While his occupations varied through out his life he will be best remembered as an accomplished artist. Don was born in St. George, Manitoba on August 11, 1941. He spent his early years in Powerview, Sagkeeng and Fairford, Manitoba. In accordance with Dons wishes he will be interred near his grandmother Annie whom he loved dearly. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends and family wish, a donation may be made to Spinal Cord Research or a charity of ones choice. Visitation and an informal gathering of family and friends will be held from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Sunday, January 9 at Bardal Funeral Chapel, 843 Sherbrook St. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 10 at Kateri Parish Church, 794 Ellice Ave., with Rev. Fr. Dominic Kerbrat officiating. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. BARDAL FUNERAL HOME 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474
