Paula was born in Mogilev, Russia in 1924, coming to Winnipeg, Canada in 1928 with her family where her father established Shore Glass and Building Supplies. She moved to Los Angeles in 1975, establishing in Studio City the Mavens Haven for Knitters which offered knitting supplies, instruction and finishing to clients who went on to be lifelong friends after her shop closed due to illness. She was a magnet for people to be with her, to share her energy, sense of fun and excitement. She was somewhat of a maverick, but also sensitive and caring about those around her. She took ill with lung cancer in 1990, and for ten years, she beat the odds. She loved to visit Las Vegas, making new and good friends at her favourite spot - the Baccarat area of Caesars Palace. She enjoyed many wonderful friendships with people from Winnipeg to Los Angeles who will miss her special personality. If so wished, donations may be made to a charity of ones choice.
