MALCOLM (MAC) LITTLEFORD Malcolm (Mac) Littleford, (Thunder Bay), age 81 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 26, 1999 at St. Josephs Hospital with his family by his side. Mac was born February 19, 1918 in Souris, Manitoba, before moving to Winnipeg with his family in 1927. He graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate and worked for Canada Packers in Winnipeg until 1939 when he joined the Canadian Artillery Armed Forces. He served until 1946, and in 1944 became a lieutenant. He later became a captain in the reserves in Fort William. He married Dorothy (nee Thordarson) in 1940 and moved to Brandon where he was stationed with CAAF. In 1946 they moved to Thunder Bay where Mac opened up Chesterfield House with his brother Ted. He retired in 1981. Mac was an active member and past president of the Westfort Kiwanis Club as well as the Hurricane Hockey Club. He was also very active with the BPOE Elks Lodge No. 82, where he received a 25 year medallion. For many years Mac enjoyed duck hunting at Shoal Lake, Manitoba, and the family camp at Lake Shebandowan (Ontario) was the place where many happy memories were made. Mac had been in the care of St. Josephs Hospital for the past two years, and the family would like to thank the staff there for the kindness and special care that they gave him. Mac will be dearly missed by his wife Dorothy; daughters, Clare Close (Don) and Doreen Sypus (John) sons, David (Penny), Gordie (Dianne) and Russ (Elizabeth) ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Elin and Marguerite of Thunder Bay, Margaret Hunter, Saskatoon, Shirley McCreedy (Russ), Winnipeg and brother-in-law David (Doreen), Winnipeg. A service of remembrance was held on Wednesday, December 29 at 1:00 p.m. in the Westfort Chapel, with Reverend Dave Sparks and Reverend Joyce Fergus-Moore officiating. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Lung Association or to the First Church Memorial Fund, Brock and Foro, Thunder Bay.
