Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER MICHAEL MALAZDREWICH Walter passed away suddenly January 5, 2000, at the age of 52 years. Born in Dauphin, Manitoba, Wally spent his early life in Kenora, then Minnedosa, Manitoba. He moved to Brandon and attended Brandon Collegiate where he enjoyed football, music and drama. He was active in church activities and Brandon Militia. After taking Grade 12 at St. Josephs College, Yorkton, Wally attended Assiniboine Community College in Brandon. In 1967 he obtained a position with Manitoba Hydro where he worked for seven years. Wally continued his business career with the Manitoba Department of Agriculture in Gimli and Arborg. He worked for the Federal Government as a financial officer; nine years at Stony Mountain Institution and later Parks and Heritage Canada, lower Fort Garry. He more recently transferred to Human Resources Canada, Winnipeg. The last fourteen years saw Wally fight a battle with illness and surgeries, but he persevered, amazing everyone with his determination and drive. Wally was known for his love of pool and won several trophies. He enjoyed playing cards and golfing. He spent much time fishing, his favourite sport, and walking outdoors. Throughout his life, family came first. Wally was a devoted son, husband and father. He supported all the many activities of his family, spending many hours travelling to practices and attending performances, competitions and sporting events. He also found time to be supportive of his friends and neighbours. He was predeceased by his father Albert. Wally will be lovingly remembered by wife Darlene; daughters, Tara (Brent) and Lisa (Mark) son Blair (Debbie) and two grandsons, Joshua and Noah; his mother Anne Malazdrewich of Brandon; brothers, Larry (Caryl) of Canmore and Doug (Elsie) of Winnipeg; father-in-law Robert Keeble; brothers-in-law, Gary Keeble (Sandy), Ken Keeble (Shelley) and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. Walter will always be remembered for his integrity, sense of humour, strength and commitment to family. Following a family mass at 9:30 a.m. in Christ the King Roman Catholic Church in Stonewall, a public memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, January 10 in the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Interment will follow in the Stonewall Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301 - 352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8.
