ALEXANDRE VERMETTE Peacefully, on January 5, 2000 at the St. Boniface Hospital, with his beloved wife, Edith at his side, Alex passed away. Alex was born on March 24, 1911 in Otterburne, Manitoba. He was predeceased by his parents Henri Vermette and Marguerite Gladu; his sisters, Jeanne Audet and Emma Gobeil and brother Honore. Surviving, beside his wife are his brothers, Charlemage (Dosa) Gerard (Frances) sisters, Marie-Anne Stevenson, Therese Proulx, and brother-in-law Eugene Meissner (Barbara). Alex was employed by the Grey Nuns (St. Boniface Sanitarium) and St. Amant Centre until his retirement in 1976 . He was loved and respected by everyone who knew him. Alex was a devoted associate member of Brother Andre at St. Joseph Oratory of Mount Royal, Montreal, Quebec. Prayers will be said on Sunday, January 9, at 7:00 p.m. in Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday January 10, at 10:00 a.m. also in the church, with Reverend Father Renato Pasinato presiding. Interment will take place in Chapel Lawn cemetery at a later date. To St. Boniface Hospital, 5-B Ward, my gratitude goes out to Dr. Roe and the nurses and staff for their caring help towards my husband and myself.
