Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORMAN CLIFFORD WALTERS Peacefully in his sleep, at West Park Manor Personal Care Home, on Tuesday, January 4, 2000. Norman was born on May 1, 1912 at Pontardawe, Swansea, South Wales. On marrying, he lived in England until 1953, at which time the family emigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg. Norman was a skilled pipefitter and metal worker, working in that capacity at Hawker Aircraft at the outbreak of war in 1939, along with service in the Home Guard. In Winnipeg, Norman continued his trade with the C.N.R. until retirement in 1977. Norman was also a musician. He formed his own dance band in England (Norman on drums), played the violin and true to his welsh heritage, had a fine singing voice. He loved entertaining and throughout his working and retirement years in Canada gave many volunteer hours to various institutions and the Royal Canadian Legion. Norman is survived by his wife of 64 years Lily; daughter Maureen Tate; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Lois Maxwell; sister Marjorie (Wales). He was predeceased by sons, Phillip and Malcolm; brother Percy (Wales) son-in-law Jack Tate. Cremation has taken place. A private, family committal of ashes service will be held on Friday, January 7 at Garry Memorial Park, The Ven. Phil Barnett officiating.
