MARIE KORNEL (nee SCHNERCH) It is with deep sorrow, the family announce the passing of their beloved Mother and Grandmother, Marie Kornel, age 92 years, on Friday, January 7, 2000 at the St. Josephs Residence. Marie was born January 23, 1907 in Poland. She came to Canada in 1951. She was a lifelong member of St. Josephs Church, the CWL and the Golden Age Club. Her hobbies were gardening, flowers, bingo and cards. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She leaves to mourn, one son William, four daughters; Helen Cwik, Mary (Tom) Chlebak, Kathy (Ed) Schoffner and Anna (Otto) Cabel; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by her two sisters, Kathy Whittman and Matilda Fiebrig from Germany. Marie was predeceased by her husband John Kornel, father Thomas Schnerch and mother Apelonia Schnerch and two sisters. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the nurses and staff at the St. Josephs Residence for their excellent care and compassion. Prayers will be said on Monday, January 10 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 11 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church, 355 Andrews St. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
