WILLIAM DOUGLAS FLETT On Saturday, January 8, 2000 William Flett passed away peacefully with his family at his side. He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of almost 60 years, Jean; his children, Lois Manning (Bob) of Sunshine Point, Ont., and Gerry Grant (Gary). Daughter Evelyn Emel predeceased him in 1996. Also survived by grandchildren, Ed, Gord, Kathy of Toronto and Austin; son-in-law Ed of Toronto; sisters Bettie Collie and Vida Flett of Richmond, B.C., and many nieces and nephews. Dad was born on July 16, 1916 in Winnipeg, Man. Growing up in Winnipeg, he attended Greenway Public School and Daniel MacIntyre Collegiate. Dad served as a Lieutenant in the Army in the Second World War. He worked at Grant, Atkinson and Blair from the age of 16 until his retirement in 1980. He was president of Bradford Buildings Inc. Besides his family, golf was Dads passion. He was a member of Niakwa Golf and Country Club for over fifty years, and served on the Board in the early fifties. Dad loved building and spending time with family and friends at Matlock Beach. At Dads request cremation has taken place. A private family interment will take place in the family plot at Brookside Cemetery.
