WALTER JAMES AYRES Peacefully on October 7, 2002 at Deer Lodge Centre Walter James Ayres, aged 85 years, met the angels in his sleep. He retired in 1982 after 45 years in the health club of the Central YMCA. He also served five and one-half years in the Navy in the Second World War. He was a member of the Khartum Temple Shrine, Vintage Car Club, 32nd degree Scottish Rites Valley of Winnipeg and Masonic Lodge 172. He was also a member of the Fort Rouge Legion 41 years and a lifetime member of the Winnipeg Elks. Walter was also a longtime member of the YMHA. Walter is survived by his beloved wife Margery of 60 years, his son Charles Bernard Ayres/Dion (wife Adeline) six grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be held on Friday, October 11 at 12:30 p.m., at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
