MAREE KATHLEEN BIRT With her loving husband at her side, Maree Birt (nee Mathews), youthful and active at 86 years, went peacefully to be with the Lord early Sunday morning, October 6, 2002. She was the wife of Charlie for 62 years and the mother of Ron (Margaret), Bev (Ken), Brian (Lina) and William (Sarah). In addition to brother Pat (Joyce) Mathews; and sisters, Celia (Jim) Irons and Eileen (John) Rowson; Maree is survived by many nieces and nephews; as well as grandchildren, Amanda (Gerry), Peter, Rod (Joanie), Gordon, and Sean and great-grandchildren, Alexis and Megan. Devoted to her family far and near, Maree loved people and influenced many hundreds as a loving wife and mother, caring friend, great swimming teacher, talented pianist and song leader, dedicated seniors volunteer, and servant to those in need. She believed that her musical gifts should be nurtured and shared with others (church congregations, patients and residents at St. Boniface General Hospital, Misericordia General Hospital, Riverview Health Centre, and Tache Centre, as well as family and community cultures. She cherished life and lived it to the fullest, exemplifying her strong Christian beliefs. Maree will be dearly missed by all who knew her - we are far richer for the opportunity of sharing our time with her. A celebration of Marees life will take place on Thursday, October 10 on 12:00 noon in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley St., with The Archdeacon Gordon Dixon presiding.
