THOMAS DONALD RICHARDSON With deepest sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved family member Thomas Richardson. Tom passed away during the evening of January 7, 2000 at Seven Oaks Hospital after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was 72 years old. He is survived by his wife Ruth to whom he was married in June of 1999. They had a short but loving time together. He also leaves to cherish his memory a daughter Judith (Mark) Wilson of Nanaimo, BC.; a grandson Daniel Runchey of Vancouver, BC.; a granddaughter Catherine (Michael) Warner and two great grandsons Johnathon and Tyler Warner of Vancouver, BC. Tom is also survived by his sister Eleanor of Calgary, AB.; and brothers Doug (Audrey) of Prescott, Arizona; Halley (Grace) of Kamloops, BC.; and William (Eleanor) of Winnipeg, plus many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. He was predeceased by his first wife Laura, in 1983, and by his parents, Mary in 1979 and William in 1982. Tom was born in Glenboro, MB, on August 4, 1927 and spent most of his youth in the Clearwater and Darlingford areas. Before moving to Winnipeg at age 20 Tom worked as a hired hand at farms in those communities. Tom loved to drive and picked his early jobs where he had the opportunity to drive a truck. He worked for several years driving for P.M. Scientific Fur Cleaners. Prior to his retirement Tom worked for Beaver Lumber Co. at the Stafford Street store. He was with Beaver for over 20 years and referred to himself at "The Head 2 x 4" at the store. The family extends a very special thanks to all the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital for the excellent job they did while he was in their care. A memorial service for Tom will be held at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street, with Reverend Bruce Logan officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. Those who wish to, can make a donation in Toms memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald Street, R3B 2H8, or the Canadian Cancer Society 100 Olivia Street, R3E 9Z9.
