BRUCE LeRICHE RUDD After a very special Christmas at home with family and dear friends, Bruce died peacefully on January 8, 2000 surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in London, Ontario in 1936, Bruce attended Ridley College and earned bachelor and law degrees from the University of Western Ontario. Though called to the bar, Bruce instead entered into a 28-year career in the newspaper business. He worked for both FP Publications and Thomson Newspapers, with postings in Ottawa, Lethbridge, Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Peterborough. Most recently, Bruce served as Publisher of the Winnipeg Free Press until his retirement in 1992. Bruce was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed golf, travel and the company of friends. His wit and wisdom will be deeply missed, but fondly remembered by all who knew him. He is predeceased by his parents, Ada and Dalton Stafford Rudd. He is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth-Ann (nee Bird), his children, Jason, David and Jessica and by his dear brother, Dalton Stafford (Bill) Rudd. The family wishes to thank Drs. Mulder, Harris and Nason and the caring and attentive staff of Grace Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 13 at 11:30 a.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway.
