GEORGE J. HAVERSTOCK (1897 - 1999) Peacefully, at Middlechurch Home, our dearest Dad left in the wee hours of December 22nd with the evening star into Gods Great Kingdom to spend Christmas with Jesus. His family was by his side. We wanted so much for him to see the Millennium but he couldnt stay. Dad was predeceased by his loving wife Elizabeth in 1986 and an infant daughter, Georgina. He was born in the Northwest Territories (now Saskatchewan) and was the last of his family, parents, brothers and sisters. George and Elizabeth with their children moved to Winnipeg in 1940 and George worked at Walter Woods Ltd. until his retirement. They were devoted to their religious beliefs throughout their lives. They were members of Grace Lutheran Church. In their latter years, they both were residents at Middlechurch. George enjoyed gardening and music. He enjoyed joining in with the entertainment groups with his harmonica and also with the music at church services. Dad is survived by a son, Wally (Helen Wilson) of Montreal and a daughter, Audrey (Russ Johnstone) of Winnipeg; his beloved grandchildren, Greg, Debbie, Tom, Todd and Jim; great-grandchildren, Jeff, Jamie, David, Adrian, Shawn, Kelly, Alexandra, Alayna, Krista, Felicia and Taryn and great great-granchild, Hannah and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all the staff and volunteers who cared lovingly for our Dad during his 15 years at Middlechurch Home. Their constant loving care was a great comfort especially during his failing days. A memorial service will be held at Middlechurch Home, January 14 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Bruce Gelhorn officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Middlechurch Home. Love you forever our dearest Dad, who had so many stories to tell. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
