Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER TANASYCHUK After a heroic battle with cancer, Walter Tanasychuk, age 74 years, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2000. Wally will be greatly missed by his family, and many friends. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Lena of 52 years, and their four children, Margret, husband John and their children, Rena, husband Jason, great-granddaughter Jordyn; Terry, husband Roberto, their children, Luke Zitaruk, and Roberto Walter; Marcy, husband Rob, their children, Kristen, Jacob, and Erik; son Marvin; sister Nettie Ulasy; brothers, Mike and Borden. He was employed with Canada Packers for nearly 30 years. After retirement he and Lena enjoyed spending their summers at their cabin where they spent many hours fishing and working on their cabin. They even spent some of their winter months visiting their daughter Terry and her family in Northern Mexico. Wally and Lena were dedicated members of Sts. Peter and Paul Church. They could be found helping out wherever needed. He was a charter member of Bishop Ladyka Council, and helped to run the parish bingo for many years. Lena and Wally were gracious hosts, and they could be found entertaining many of the Brother Knights and their families at their cabin during the annual fishing derby. He was a kind gentleman, always willing to lend a helping hand. Around the church his nickname was the "God Father", and he was part of the 3 musketeers. Through the vision, and perseverance of the 3 musketeers, Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Centre was built. This parish centre enabled the church to continue into the next millennium, by helping the parish to come even a bigger part of the community life in the St. Boniface area. Honourary pallbearers are Peter Michalski and Peter Verdenik. Active pallbearers will be Randy Ulasy, Michael Tanasychuk, Blair Tanasychuk, Ted Ranick, Ricky Rekrut, and Luke Zitaruk. Panahkyda will be sung on Wednesday, January 12 at 7:00 p.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 390 Marion St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, January 13 at 10:00 a.m., also at the church. Rev. Fr. J. Mostivsky officiating. Interment Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, the family requests that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
