Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM THOMAS CORBETT With family at his side, our husband, father, grandfather and friend left us peacefully, December 30, 1999 in Glendale, Arizona. Bill will be remembered and forever missed by Eleanor his wife of 56 years; son Bill (Catherine) Corbett; daughter Gaye (Patrick) McCurdy, daughter Janice (Larry) Wurtak; grandchildren, Matthew, Sarah, Charley Corbett, Martin and Kathleen McCurdy, Travis and Karl Wurtak, sister Kathleen Apted, of Toronto; nieces and nephews, and his many friends and neighbours in St. James. He was predeceased by parents Ernest Weaver Corbett and Hilda Florence Stanway Corbett; brother Roger Ernest and sister Mary Rowland. Born at Colonsay, Saskatchewan on September 14, 1916, Bill grew up on the farm at Colonsay and in Saskatoon. He joined the RCAF, April 5, 1941 and served at Jericho Beach, Vancouver, Dauphin, Manitoba, No. 8 Repair Depot, Winnipeg and No. 11 TSD Unit (Canadian Power Boat) Montreal. He joined the RCAF (regular) in Montreal, after hostilities. December, 1943 Bill married Eleanor in Winnipeg and brought up their family in Montreal, Winnipeg, 4 Fighter Wing Baden - Soellingen (Nato Forces) Ottawa and Montreal, where Bill retired in 1969. They returned to Winnipeg in June 1969 where Bill found employment with Transair/Pacific Western/Canadian Airlines as a NDT technician until his retirement in September, 1981. A member of No. 4 Branch Royal Canadian Legion, he enjoyed times with his friends at the Legion Seniors and the Game and Fish Clubs. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 14, at 2:00 p.m. in the St. James Anglican Church, 195 Collegiate Street, with Reverend Fred Lynch officiating. Interment in the St. James Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Fort Whyte Centre, 1961 McCreary Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3P 2K9 would be appreciated by the family.
