MYRTLE STANGER Peacefully, with her loving family at her side, Myrtle Stanger went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 11, 2000 at the age of 79 years. Myrt is survived by her loving and devoted husband Wilfred; her loving daughters, Leslie (John) and Lorene (Gary) grandchildren, Rob (Kyla), Jane (Dave), Jill; and her great-grandchildren, Kristin and Brendan. Myrt was born in Winnipeg of Irish parents who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her sister Ruby and her stepmother Bertha. After 3 and one half years in the Womens Division of the R.C.A.F. during the Second World War, Myrt married Wilf in 1945. Both were members of the No. 215 Legion. After being at home with her family, she worked in various offices, retiring from a position at the Manitoba Legislature, where she typed Hansard reports. Myrt resided in East Kildonan where she was actively involved in community activities and St. Stephens Anglican Church. Her keen interest in curling and golfing and her sense of fun resulted in Myrt having many lifelong friends. She was happiest when surrounded by people, and wherever she was, there was always laughter. Her devotion to her family and friends was unwavering. She spent many happy days at Niddrie, ON where she enjoyed fishing and swimming. Her love of music and dancing also gave her great pleasure. Her family wishes to sincerely thank the staffs at Kildonan Personal Care Home and the third floor of Concordia Hospital for their compassion. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. A private family interment will be held at a later date in Elmwood Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest in her fathers grave. If friends so desire, donations in Myrts memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg R3C 4G2.
