RICHARD (DICK) DOERKSEN With deep sorrow the family announce the passing of Richard (Dick) Doerksen, beloved husband and father on Monday, January 10, 2000 at the St. Boniface General Hospital at the age of 71 years. Dick will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Elsie; two daughters, Bonnie and Ron Emerson and Birdie and Ron Asmundson; two sons, Terry and Susan of Winnipeg and Jeff of Piney, MB; seven grandchildren, Tamara, Kristina, Jess, Travis, Dylan, Eckoe and Dacota; brother Peter and wife Clara on Menisino, MB, Abe and wife Thelma of Wpg., Willie and wife Pat of Wpg., David and wife Margie of Wpg.; sisters Mary and husband Palmer of Menisino, Susie and husband Louie of B.C., sisters-in-law Lois of Wpg., Evelyn and husband Chris of Transcona and Delores of Transcona; mother-in-law Alice Kozak of Transcona, as well as numerous nephews, nieces and friends who will sadly miss him. Dick was predeceased by his mother Elizabeth in 1958, father Peter in 1975, sister Helen in 1976 and brother Jake in 1988. He was a loving and supportive husband, father and friend who believed in strong family morals and values. He worked 29 years for the City of Winnipeg Construction Branch. His passions were fishing, hunting and trapping and spending time outdoors. The loyalty, dedication and commitment he showed to his family and friends is a measure of the man he was. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by every life he touched. The family wish to thank Dr. Bracken and the MICU Staff at St. Boniface General Hospital for all their kindness and compassion. Prayers will be said on Friday evening, January 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street at Luxton Avenue. Funeral Service will be on Saturday, January 15 at 1:00 p.m. at the International Christian Fellowship Church, Piney, MB, six miles south of Piney, right at the US Border. Interment to follow in Menisino Cemetery, Menisino MB. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation, Manitoba Branch, 200-55 Donald Street, Wpg. R3C 1L8 of the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba. As you look down from the Heavens above, Watching over us we know that you are Truly blessed with your warmth and kindness. Your spirit will always be with us and your love Will always be felt.
