A. E. MARJORIE ORR (nee ATKINSON) Born in Minnedosa, MB on February 22,1909, she died peacefully on Sunday, January 2, 2000 in Toronto. Beloved wife of the late (1981) Leslie G. Orr, she will be greatly missed by her daughters, Diane (Brian) McCord of Toronto and Judie (Andrew) Lucock of Bonshaw, PEI. Her six grandchildren, Lori, Nicole and Katherine McCord and Andrea, Tyler and Niall Lucock will each miss their "Nan". She is survived by her brother Bill Atkinson in Abbotsford, BC, his daughters, Mrs. Catheryn Pedersen of Erickson, MB, Mrs. Sandra Rex of Holland, MB, and his son Scott Atkinson of Abbotsford; also brother-in-law Bill Orr and Morrie in Neepawa and their daughters, Betty Ann of Lorette, MB and Cathy of Onanole, MB. Her brother Jim predeceased her in 1997. She and Les, a civil engineer with PFRA, lived in Winnipeg and Regina for many years prior to her move to Toronto in mid-1998. She was a primary school teacher and taught in and around Minnedosa, MB for most of the 1930s until her marriage in 1941. In addition to a lifelong fascination of young children, she enjoyed doing the daily crossword, playing bridge and scrabble, reading, curling and ice-skating with Les. She was also a lifelong member of the Professional Association of Engineers Wives. Many of her summers were spent with family and friends at their little pink cottage at Clear Lake in Manitoba. Marj always had a twinkle in her eye and a sense of humour that saw her through any challenging moments. One of her greatest legacies will be the many lessons of life she passed on to her family and friends - all of whom she thoroughly enjoyed. A memorial service was held in Toronto on Wednesday, January 5 and interment will follow this summer in Minnedosa. Memorial donations to the Childrens Wish Foundation, the Lung Association or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
