ANTHONY MICHAEL (TONY) WINGERT Peacefully on January 12, 2000 at the Grace Hospital, Anthony Michael (Tony) Wingert passed away at the age of 85 years. Tony is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Betty; children, Bill (Diane) of Lethbridge, Alta., Nancy (Norm) Stannard of Edmonton, Alta. and Tom (Barb) of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Rob, Karyn, Barry, Jason, Kevin and Michael as well as great-grandchildren Jeremy and Justin. Tony is also survived by his brother, Joe (Anne) of Kelowna, B.C. Tony was born on August 21, 1914 in Regina, Sask. where he was raised and developed many friendships. Tony married his life long companion, Betty, on November 5, 1938, having known each other since their early school days. Tony served proudly in the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War. After the war, Tony worked many years in industrial sales with Robert Morse Corp, transferred to Winnipeg with his family in 1960. He continued to work with Robert Morse Corp. and later with Lukes Machinery until his retirement in 1978. Throughout his life, Tony enjoyed most sports, especially baseball and bowling. He also enjoyed his many fly-in fishing trips to Northern Manitoba. Tony and Betty enjoyed several vacation trips to Hawaii, Mazatlan and Las Vegas. Tony was a proud and gentle man whose family was most important to him. His patriarchal guidance, wisdom and sense of humour will always be cherished and remembered. A special thanks to Dr. R. Albak, the Emergency and 5th floor staff of the Grace Hospital for their care and compassion during the past weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., R3B 2H8 or to a charity of ones choice.
