MARTHA H. (LENA) SKELDING (nee LUNDQUIST) On January 11, 2000, Lena Skelding peacefully passed away at the Golden Door Geriatric Centre with her children at her side. Lena is lovingly remembered by her children, Lloyd (Moira) Skelding, Joan (Bob) Simmons; grandchildren, Ted (Tracy), Jodi, and Andrew; sister Clara Lariviere; as well as by her nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Lena was predeceased by her husband Ernest (Toss) mother Martha and father Per; sisters, Anna McLeod and Gerda; brothers, George, Gunnar, and Gus. Lena was born on August 18, 1904 in Sweden. She and her family arrived in the Eriksdale District in 1906 and but for a brief exception lived there until 1989. Her last years were spent in Winnipeg. She enjoyed her days on the farm and lived a very active life there for 60 years. She was devoted to her family, truly a devoted Mother! She loved gardening, knitting and baking. Her friends and neighbours were always welcome and she was willing to lend a hand and a word of good cheer to all. We will miss her very much. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Lenas life will be held at the Eriksdale United Church on Saturday, January 15 at 1:00 p.m. Melanie Kauppila, a student minister, will officiate. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make a donation in Lenas memory to the United Church at Eriksdale, MB R0C 0W0. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the staff at the Golden Door for all their loving care, kindness, and support. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements, 775-2220.
