Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHALINA (LENA) BOWEY Michalina (Lena) Bowey, of Brandon died peacefully at Hillcrest Place on Tuesday, January 11, 2000, in her 91st year. Lena was born to Anton and Erina (Tenasiw) Danyluk on October 28, 1909 near Olha, MB. The fifth of 10 children, she lived on the family homestead and attended school in the district. She married Herbert Bowey and moved to the family farm at Welwyn, SK. Here they raised their family and Lena was kept busy as wife, mother, homemaker and community worker. In 1959, Herb and Lena moved to Brandon where she was employed at Perths until her retirement in 1975. In her retirement years, she continued to care for her family. A ready meal was always waiting and many were recipients of her crochet and knit handiwork. In her final years, she kept busy with her daily outings and bus rides with her sister Olga, and visits to her brother. Caring and supportive of family and friends until her final days, she especially enjoyed visits with and news of her great-grandchildren. Lena was predeceased by her parents; her husband Herb; her sisters, Lily Deyholos and Rose Yarish and her brothers, Alex, Matt, Peter and Max Danyluk. She is survived by her sisters, Olga Titus and Mary Danyluk of Brandon and brother Nick (Rose) Danyluk, Winnipeg; special friend Wanda Hyde, Winnipeg, and many nieces and nephews. Lena will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Joan (Bill) Shamray, Oak River and Eve (Ted) Francis, Selkirk, and son Keith (Sherida) of Nolalu, ON; her eight grandchildren, Lesley (Jamie) McFadden, Rivers, Diane Shamray (Rojer Loewen), Brandon, Bruce (Monica) Shamray, Brandon and Therese Shamray (Greg Acevedo), Dauphin, Jill Francis, Thunder Bay, ON, Rob (Allison) Francis, Calgary, AB, Jody (Tyler) Zinnick, Winnipeg and Maegan Bowey, of Nolalu, ON; 12 great-grandsons and great-granddaughter, Taylor, Branden and Jordan Manahan, William, Alastair and Michael McFadden, Kyla and Brett Zinnick, Michael and Harry Francis, and Taylor, Aidan and Liam Shamray. At Lenas request, a private family service will be held. Flowers are gratefully declined.
