Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM DOUGLAS FORBES April 15, 1914 - January 14, 2000 Peacefully with his family at his side, after a long and adventurous life, Bill Forbes passed away at the Deer Lodge Centre on Friday, January 14, 2000. Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife Laura, son Michael, his children Frances and John; son Richard (Sandra), their children Carleigh, Allison and Sarah; daughter Mary; sister Ann (Bob) Peggie; nieces Barbara Gudmundson and Joanne (Ron) Borger. Bill served nine years with the RCMP until he joined the RCAF. He was a navigator on Lancasters and was honourably discharged as a Flying Officer. Bill graduated from the University of Toronto as an optometrist and worked for 30 years in the Eatons Department of Optometry. He appreciated the camaraderie of his fellow members of the War Amps. Bill enjoyed his retirement years at Glen Bay with his family and dog Spiffy. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 21, 2000 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. A gathering of friends and family will follow in Chapel Lawn Reception Centre. The family would like to thank the staff at Deer Lodge Centre T6 for their tender loving care and for making Deer Lodge Bills "Home away from home". We also appreciate the efforts of Bill Neil and Addie Houle of the War Amps. Flowers are greatly declined and donations in Bills memory may be made to the War Amps CHAMPS Program, 115 Marianne Road, Winnipeg, MB R2R 1W4 or to Deer Lodge Hospital, 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3.
