HARRY L. CRANWILL Surrounded by the love of his family on January 16, 2000, Harry passed away peacefully in his home, in his 75th year, after a lengthy illness. Harry will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Doreen; son Richard and wife Joanne; grandchildren, Ryan, Allison, and Christine of Cambridge, Ont.; daughter Karen and husband Gordon Redmann; grandson Mitchell; his sister-in-law Irene Cranwill; his nephews, Brent and Dean Cranwill, Tom and George Lumsden and their families. Harry was predeceased by his father William; mother Lillian; twin brother Bill; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Archie Lumsden. Harry was born February 16, 1925, residing in Winnipeg all of his life. He was blessed with a close and loving family, as well as many friends which helped him to enjoy life to the fullest. Harry served in the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War. Back home, he spent the first years of his career with the Manitoba Power Commission, and the rest of his working life with the Manitoba Telephone System, retiring in 1985. Harry and Doreen enjoyed a funfilled and health retirement together, taking several vacations and playing lots of golf. Harry had a great passion for golf from the time he was a young man, and became quite accomplished at the sport. He was a lifetime member of the Winnipeg Canoe Club and had played with his dear friends at Niakwa Golf and Country Club for the past 22 years, where he accomplished his dream of shooting a "Hole in One". Harrys sense of humour was a very unique gift that he shared generously, leaving his family and friends so many great moments and stories to remember him by. He carried this gift with him through his illness to the end, helping us all to have strength and courage through the trying times. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 20 at 1:00 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, Broadway at Furby. The family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to the family and friends for all their love and support, Dr. Sikora and Lorrie, to Kevin, Ron, Dusty and Leroy his orderlies, and the V.O.N. nurses. Flowers are gratefully declined in favour of a donation to a charity of ones choice. Softly the leaves of memory fall Gently we gather and treasure them all Unseen, unheard, he is ever near, Still loved, still missed, still very dear. Please God, forgive a silent tear And a constant wish that he were here. Others are taken, yes we know But he was ours, and we miss him so! THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
