HUGH KIRKWOOD It is with deep sadness that the family of Hugh Kirkwood announces his passing, on January 18, 2000 at Riverview Health Centre, Winnipeg. Hugh is survived by his loving wife Dorothy; son Iain, to whose care he devoted a large part of his life; daughter Una; son-in-law Dr. Nick Shworak and his cherished granddaughters, Jocelyn and Alexandra. Also surviving are Hughs three sisters, Catherine Adkins, Janet Kirkwood and Mary Zarie. Hugh was born in Stirling, Scotland on July 15, 1923, the only son of the late James and Catherine Kirkwood. He immigrated to Canada in May 1949, working briefly with the H.B.M.& S. Co. in Flin Flon and later with Manitoba Hydro in Brandon and Winnipeg. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 21 at 2:00 p.m. from the Westwood Presbyterian Church on the corner of Westwood and Browning, with the Reverend Ian Shaw officiating.
