JAMES JOHN BRUCE BARRICK Bruce passed away on Monday, January 17, 2000 at the Grace General Hospital. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Gwen; two daughters, Pat Watson (Jim) of Mississauga, Ont. and Ruth McDonald (Phil) of Okotoks, Alta.; four granddaughters, Kim Mitchell, Jodi Watson, and Allison and Barbara McDonald and one grandson Steven McDonald. Bruce was born in Melville, Saskatchewan on December 19, 1913. He attended the University of Manitoba, attaining his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1935 and his Bachelor of Education in 1957. He enjoyed his teaching positions in Selkirk, Kelvin, Tec-Voc and R.B. Russell Schools. He loved his chosen career and made a difference to many students. He also taught at the Reserve Air Force for several summers and enjoyed his students very much. Bruce retired from teaching in 1978 when he took time to travel with his wife, visiting children and friends in the East and West. Bruce was a charter member of Westworth United church and served on many boards with the church. There will be a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 20 in Westworth United Church, 1750 Grosvenor, with the Rev. Clark Saunders officiating.
