MAGARETHA HIEBERT (nee SCHROEDER) It is with deep sorrow and blessing that we as a family announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmoth-er Magaretha Hiebert. She went home to be with her Lord whom she loved and longed to see on January 16, 2000 at the Bethania Personal Care Home, after a three-month illness. Magaretha was born December 11, 1903 near Ile des Chenes, MB. On October 28, 1923 she married Henry A. Hiebert (Niverville) and their marriage lasted for 63 years, until Dads passing in November, 1986. They were blessed with 11 children: one son died in infancy and another son Hank passed away in May, 1998. Our mothers faith in Christ was of utmost importance to her. She received Christ as her Saviour in her teen years and her assurance of salvation carried her through many struggles in life. She passed this legacy of faith unto her children, where she read Bible stories to us and helped us to put Scripture to memory. Prayer was Moms mainstay, and she spent many hours interceding for her loved ones -- mentioning each one by name before her Lord daily. Left to cherish her memory are three sons, Peter (and Helen) of Niverville, Ed (and Mary) of Winnipeg, George (and Doris) of Stead; one daughter-in-law Sheilah Hiebert of Pasco, Washington; six daughters, Mary (and John) Vogt of Winnipeg, Anne (and Jake) Rempel of Steinbach, Nettie (and Walter) Dueck, Marge (and Ron) Harder, Sadie (and Gordon) Hildebrand, all of Winnipeg, and Helen (and Conteh) Kamara of Seattle, Washington; 35 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchild-ren. She is also survived by three brothers and five sisters. Five brothers and two sisters predeceased her. Our family would like to express our sincere thanks to the compassionate care of the nursing staff at the Bethania Personal Care Home with special appreciation for the staff in Wing 5. A celebration of Magaretha Hieberts life will be held on Friday, January 21 at 2:00 p.m. at the Word of Life Mission Church in Niverville, with Rev. Gerhard Friesen and Rev. Ben Hoeppner officiating. Viewing will be held at the Bethania Personal Care Home, 1045 Concordia Ave., Winnipeg, on Thursday at 7:00 p.m., as well as prior to the funeral service on Friday. Interment at the Niverville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home, 1045 Concordia Ave., Winnipeg. Birchwood Funeral Home, Steinbach, is in care of arrangements, phone 1-888-454-1030.
