Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET VELMA STOKES It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Margaret Velma Stokes on January 15, 2000 at Riverview Health Centre at the age of 76. Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband John of 57 years; sons, Bryan (Fran and daughter Chelsea), Chris (Marilyn) and granddaughter Ashley. She will also be lovingly remembered by her brother Rev. Edward Wallace of North Vancouver, B.C.; nieces, Velma Johnston, Ruth and Brian Holl and several other nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her parents Jean and Hugh Wallace; sister Betty Johnston and brother Desmond Wallace. Margaret was born in Winnipeg June 5, 1923 and grew up in the citys West End. She attended Daniel McIntyre High School and so excelled at her studies that she skipped a few grades. Mom and Dad lived and raised their sons in the Norwood area. Mom was an active member of the Norwood United Church and choir. She was also a 25 year member of the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir. Margaret retired from Richardson Greenshields in 1989. John and Margaret spent their retirement years together travelling around the world with good friends. John and Margaret, together with their friends, built their cottage at Brereton Lake in 1950. Margaret so loved life at the lake. She enjoyed waterskiing until well into her sixties and was usually the first one in the lake in the Spring. Blueberry picking at Brereton was also one of Margarets favourite past times. The family wishes to thank the staff at Riverview Health Centre 2B Ward for taking such loving care of mom. A memorial service will be held at Norwood United Church, 160 St. Marys Rd. At 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 19. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society or a charity of ones choice. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
