MINNIE MAYBRODA (nee KABALUK) On January 17, 2000 at the age of 69, Minnie Maybroda (nee Kabaluk) with her family at her side, slipped into the sleep of the angels. She faced her brief battle with cancer with courage and dignity. Minnie is survived by her husband Joseph; daughters MaryAnne Yusishen and her husband Larry and Vivian Maybroda-Silverman and her husband Burle; two granddaughters Sheree Desmedt (Yusishen) and husband Devon and Amanda Yusishen; one brother John L. Kabaluk and an aunt, Mary Nikodem; 13 nieces and nephews and 15 grand nieces and grand nephews. Minnie was predeceased by her parents John and Jessie Kabaluk, brother Adolph Kabaluk and sisters Mary Husak, Stella Mroz and Olga Ohryn and nephew Robert Husak. Minnie was born on December 12, 1930 in Glenfields, Manitoba. She and Joseph were married for 51 years and that relationship grew with the good times. From Mom, her daughters received her wisdom, guidance and constant moral support. As Grandma, she always made time for Sheree and Amanda and was their biggest cheerleader. As an aunt, she took on the responsibility of surrogate mom when her sisters passed on, always concerned about the well being of her nieces and nephews. Minnie spent over 40 years in the work force using her talents as a seamstress. This same talent was given freely along with her time to the Red Cross, The Crohns and Colitis Foundation and especially The Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Womens League and the Alter Guild. She will be remembered for her strength of will and compassion of heart. At Minnies request cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate this gracious ladys life will take place at the Ukrainian Catholic Parish of Holy Eucharist, Watt and Munroe at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 20. Honourary Pallbearers are "The Birthday Girls", Eleanor McCaughey, Alma Janik, Janet Johnson, Helen Slobodian, Steffie Prydun, Bertha Dominuk, Ruby Chaboyer and Zinnia Cherniak. We would like to thank all of the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital on Ward 6A South and Palliative Care. Especially the Palliative Care for their care and support which helped us all. Flowers are gratefully declined. We ask that a donation be made in Minnies memory to the Palliative Care ward at the St. Boniface Hospital for patient care or the Cancer Care Fund of Manitoba or the charity of your choice. Dear Minnie: My partner, my friend. As I continue this journey through life, you shall always be at my side. Love, your husband Joe.
