MADELEINE ROSS HODGSON (nee TAYLOR) Peacefully on January 18, 2000 at Carman Memorial Hospital, our mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Madeleine Hodgson passed away at age 83. Madeleine was born at Clearwater, Man. on April 18, 1916. She was predeceased by her children, Janice, Bae, Bill; her parents, John and Bertha McKellar; brothers, Alex, Johnny and Archie; sisters, Mary, Inez, Margaret and Pat. She married Clarence Hodgson and she raised their six children while hairdressing in the Manitou area. She was an avid knitter, singer, organist, bridge player and curler. After all the children grew up and left home, she moved to Winnipeg where she completed her Medical Secretary Course. Following that, she was employed by the E.K.G. department of the Health Sciences Centre. On retirement in 1981 she resided at Courts of St. James until December, 1998 when she moved to Boyne Towers at Carman. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Pat Checkley (Floyd) of Carman; son Brian Hodgson (Marg) of Brandon and daughter Val Brown (Dale) of Russell; 15 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; special friends, the Whiteford family; sisters, Sadie Preston, Jeannette Beavis, Mildred Collins (Ian) brother George Taylor (Doris), many nieces and nephews. It was Madeleines wish that her body be given to science research. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, January 24 at 2:00 p.m. at Doyles Funeral Chapel in Carman. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301 - 352 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8 or to the Canadian Cancer Society (Manitoba Division), 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 9Z9. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Ambulance drivers, doctors and staff of Carman Hospital, home care and staff of Boyne Personal Care Home for the kind care given to our mother.
