MAX LOUIS GELLER With great sorrow in our hearts, the family of Max Louis Geller announce that our Dad, Gramps and Hero has passed peacefully away at the age of 78 years. Max is survived by his wife Gwen of 59 wonderful years. Together they raised four children, Michael (Connie) of Estevan, Sask., Tim (Leona), Jo-Ann (Raymond) and Richard (Mona) all of Winnipeg. Over the years, Max and Gwen also shared the love of 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Max will also be sadly missed by his sister Rebecca Kuttner of Toronto; sisters-in-law, Marjorie (Jack), Bemister and Carole (Brian) McMillan, both of Victoria, B.C. Max was born to Joseph and Rose Geller in Winnipeg on July 25, 1921. He married Gwen (Joyce) August 9, 1940 and began life with her, armed with a strong work ethic and a desire to create the best life for his family. His love and talent for woodworking allowed him to create many fine pieces of work that have since been passed down to his children and grandchildren. These talents also saw him employed with various lumber and building supply companies, eventually culminating in the creation of his own company, Lumay Homes Ltd. in 1975. Until his retirement in 1989, Max was responsible for the construction of many fine custom built homes in Winnipeg. He prided himself in the craftsmanship and detail that went into every one of his homes. Along with his talents, Max was known as a man of his word. As a measure of his character, many of his clients became his friends. Our Dad was our mentor. He could always be counted on to help us out with his "technical advice". He believed that a strong character and hard work would spell success. As well, he shared with his family and all that knew him, a zest for life and a sense of humour. Shared with Gwen, his love of both square dancing and ballroom dancing made them several life-long friends throughout Canada and the U.S. His love for life took him and Gwen practically around the world in their travels, including Turkey, Israel, Greece, Egypt, New Zealand, Australia, Alaska and the British Isles. Most loved was their yearly snowbird getaways to Hawaii. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. At Maxs request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 21 at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St., Winnipeg. We love you. Good-bye, Mr. G.
