Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN KOWPAK March 8, 1916 - January 18, 2000 Peacefully, after a brave battle with cancer at Riverview Health Centre, John Kowpak passed away with his family at his side. John is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary; brothers, Alan, Paul (Nettie) and Mike (Jackie) daughters, Phyllis Bedard, Kathleen Curtis (Robert) son Mel; grandchildren, Karen Freddi (Roger), Colleen Curtis, James Bedard and fiancee Michelle Ching; great-grandchild Dylan Freddi and several nieces. John will be laid to rest at Green Acres Memorial Gardens next to his beloved son-in-law, Edward Bedard, who predeceased him November 28, 1973. John was a devoted family man and we thank God for his long and happy life. Pallbearers will be Robert Curtis, James Bedard, Tom Rossi, Paul Fortune and Henry Dellapenta. Prayers will be said on Thursday, January 20, at 7:30 p.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 21, at 11:00 a.m. also at Holy Rosary Church, with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, care partners, and staff at Riverview Health Centre for the excellent and loving care that John received. A special thanks to Czeslawa for providing excellent home care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of John to Palliative Care at Riverview Health Centre, 1 Morley Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3L 2P4.
