Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) de WIT After a long and courageous battle with lung cancer, William (Bill) de Wit passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2000. He was born on October 30, 1931 in Winnipeg. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 46 years, Helene (Kennedy) his daughters, Sandra (Colin) Peterson, Tricia (Darren) Wittmann; sister Trudy (Harry) Darichuk; and sister-in-law Sheila (Kennedy) Brown. Also by his grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Daniel, David and Risa Peterson, and Lauren Wittmann; and many nieces and nephews and their children. He was predeceased by his father William in 1972, his mother Gertrude in 1991 and his brother Marinus (Derrick) in 1982. His family was the most important part of his life. Bill lived most of his life in Elmwood. It took him over four years to build his dream home in the country. When it was finished he took an early retirement from the Manitoba Government Home Care Equipment Department and moved to Clandeboye with his wife Helene. Over the next eight years he made many special friends and enjoyed many interests including gardening and woodworking. At Bills request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 22 at 2:00 p.m. from Kirkfield Park United Church on the corner of Kirkfield & McBey Avenue, where his son-in-law Rev. Colin Peterson will officiate. The family would like to thank Dan, his VON nurse who gave him support and comfort during his illness; Brian and Bernie and all his friends from Home Care Equipment and VitalAire; and all his friends from Clandeboye and Winnipeg who regularly visited him. Flowers are gratefully declined, If friends and family wish, a donation may be made in his memory to the VON, 301-831 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB; or a charity of ones choice.
