GORDON STRONG It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Strong, aged 79 years, on January 20, 2000, at St. Boniface Hospital. He is survived by his wife Tillie, four sons, Jerry (Erna - deceased), Edward (Rita), Ron (Sally), and Randy (Cindy), and their families, sisters Jean, Joan, Shirley, and brothers Maurice, Stanley and Norman. His parents, Adam and Dorothy, sisters Faye and Myrtle, and brother Robert, predeceased him. Gordon was born on October 16, 1920 in Quebec, residing most of his life in South Transcona. He served overseas in Germany and France, during the Second World War. For four years prior to the war, and after his discharge in 1945, he was employed by CNR, Powerhouse for 39 years until his early retirement in 1976. His favourite past time was car mechanics and more recently lending automotive advice to family and friends. He also enjoyed playing cards on Saturday nights with family. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 24 at 1:00 p.m. in Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St., with Chaplain Bob Kosowan officiating. Interment to follow at Transcona Cemetery. The family expresses their deep appreciation to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Cancer Society. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 222-6677.
