Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN BALONYK John Balonyk passed away at home on Saturday, January 22, 2000 after a courageous battle with cancer. John was born at Riverton, Mb. on June 18, 1924 to the late Wasyl and Anna Balonyk. He was predeceased by brothers, Mike, Peter, Nick, Harry; and sister Mary. He is survived by sister Lena Kornik of Riverton, brother Stephen and wife Susan of Portage la Prairie, brother-in-law John Dzaidekewich of Arborg, sister-in-law Mary Balonyk of Winnipeg. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces. In his younger days, he was employed as a commercial fisherman on Lake Winnipeg. In the 1950s, he was employed with Canadian Pacific Rail until his retirement in 1984. He enjoyed his retirement. He loved to go fishing and spend time at the coffee shop. He also enjoyed visiting with relatives, whom he loved dearly. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Ross United Church, Whitemouth, Mb. on Wednesday, January 26 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Jack Ballentine-Dickson officiating. A burial service of ashes will be held at Hillside Cemetery, Portage la Prairie, Mb. at a later date. The family would like to thank Garry and Rose Gesell, Bernice Higgins and all the people at Whitemouth for being so kind and caring. Thanks also to Dr. Garth Campbell, Beausejour Clinic, Dr. I Maxwell and nurses, Oncology Department, Victoria Hospital for their compassion. No flowers please.
