JOHANNES (JOHN) DYKSTRA It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father Johannes (John) Dykstra, aged 79 years, on January 23, 2000 at the Concordia Hospital. He is survived by his second wife Erika; his daughter Heddy and her husband Gord; three sons, Korey, Yelle and wife Donna, CJ and wife Bunny. John also leaves behind his grandchildren, Quinn, Kim, Tammy, Tracy, Lesley, Robin, Darryl, Carrie, Jonathan and numerous great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Anton in Ontario and sister Lutske in Holland. John was predeceased by a brother and sister in infancy and in later years by three brothers and his first wife Frouktje. John was born in Zwagerbosch, Friesland, Holland on October 24, 1920. He was a courageous man who with his first wife, Frouktje and three sons immigrated to Canada from Holland in 1952. He subsequently farmed for several years at Blackdale and then worked at the CPR as a pipe fitter for 26 years before retiring in 1981. Our Dad loved to go for country rides, visit family and friends and renew family ties in Holland during his retirement. He also made numerous contributions to the Calvary Temple, Salvation Army and other charities. His friend and sister-in-law Jitske from Holland will dearly miss him as will her children, Geke and husband Lieuwe, Klaas and wife Gre. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 26 at 11:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. #1 East at Navin Road, with Rev. H. H. Barber officiating. His final resting place will be beside his beloved Frouktje at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB, R2L 1X3. We wish to thank the kind, caring nurses and staff of the Concordia Hospital. "Thanks Dad for all your sacrifices and many efforts." GREEN ACRES FUNERAL CHAPEL 222-3241
