ANTONI HOSAK Antoni Michal Hosak passed away at the Health Sciences Centre Hospital on Saturday, January 22, 2000 after a recent injury, at the age of 68. Toni was born in Niestanice, Poland on September 14, 1931. He was predeceased by his father Michal in 1965; his mother Genowfa in 1943 and his stepmother Isabel in 1991. Toni has no immediate family in Winnipeg. He is survived by his half brother Joseph Rogucki and Josephs wife Jadwiga of Windsor, Ont. as well as by nieces and nephews, stepsisters Mary and Olive; stepbrother Phillip and their families. Toni immigrated to Canada in July 1949. He attended Kelvin High School in Winnipeg. In 1953 he became a patient in the Manitoba Sanatorium in Ninette. In 1955 he continued his education there and became a laboratory technician at the Sanatorium, where he became head technician in 1964 and continued in that position until 1973. He then joined the staff of the Trainor Laboratory at the Medical Arts Building in Winnipeg, and continued his work as a laboratory technician until 1991, when he took early retirement due to ill health. Toni enjoyed playing the accordion and watching sports events. He had special culinary skills and was fond of copper tooling and other art work. Many thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at the Health Sciences Centre who took special care of Toni during his illness. Toni and his positive attitude will be sadly missed by his many close and long-time friends and all his family members. In lieu of flowers, friends may make donations to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg. Cremation has taken place, at Tonis request. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 27, at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Interment will take place at a later date at Brookside Cemetery.
