Date of Passing: Jan 22, 2000
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBARBARA ETHEL HURDLE (nee LITTLE) After a courageous battle with cancer, our beloved "Barbie Doll" passed into the arms of the angels on Saturday, January 22, 2000 with her loving family at her side. She was predeceased by her mother Jane B. Little and father Lloyd W. Little. She will be sadly missed and forever loved by her husband, friend and soul mate Melvin Hurdle; best friend and sister Lois Hurdle; brother L. A. Ross Little; nieces, Debbie Coyle (Jason Kolaski, Melissa and Krystin Coyle), Wendy Haynes (Ron Haynes, Lisa, Matthew and Stephanie Haynes) brothers-in-law, Ed Hurdle and Morley (Pat) Hurdle and mother-in-law Jessie Hurdle. She will also be remembered and missed by her many friends in Nestor Falls, Ont. and Naples, Florida. Barbie was born in Petrolia, Ont. and moved to Winnipeg in 1955. She worked for Air Canada for 35 years in the finance department. On her retirement Barbie and Mel wintered in their motor home in Napels, Florida (with many visits from Lois) and spent their summers at their home in Kakagi (Crow Lake) in Nester Falls, Ont. Barbie will always be remembered for her love of family, shopping jaunts and her little dog "Mitzi". We will always carry memories of her; anxiously watching a suspenseful movie, of scaring us half to death while we were. She loved to bounce off the end of the dock with a shriek, into the crisp clear waters of Crow Lake or hop in her car with "Mom" and Lois for a day of shopping or a quick trip to "The States"; a few hours with "Mom" and "Lois" out fishing for trout and enjoying the sun. Barbie enjoyed being Mels Co-Pilot on many a flight to the cottage or a jaunt to visit friends. She also enjoyed many Sea-Do rides on their beautiful lake this summer. We will love her always and cherish the memories of all the wonderful times we all spent together. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 26 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Funeral service will be held Thursday, January 27 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, with Rev. Shawn Yaskiw officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will be held in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre. Special thanks to the Palliative Care Staff on 3E at the St. Boniface Hospital. They helped Barbies journey to be a gentle one...we are forever grateful. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. Rest in peace "Barbie" we know you are our guardian angel now... and will watch over us... with love. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
