ARTHUR CHARLES SPARKES Peacefully on January 21, 2000, our dear father Arthur passed away at Deer Lodge Centre. Dad was born in St. James on June 3, 1909 and had resided in St. James all his life. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Rosemary, in November 1996; his oldest son Walter in September 1999; his parents Jane and Fred Sparkes; sister Florence Newton and brother Gordon Sparkes. Art leaves to mourn his son Gordon and wife Sandy; daughter Marilyn MacKay and husband Fred; daughters-in-law, Lyn Sparkes and Diane Sparkes; his grandchildren, Pam Sparkes, Janice Werntz, Kim Vauclair, Paul MacKay, Curtis and Carrie Sparkes and four great-grandchildren, Jessica and Bryan Werntz and Jaren and Brooklyn Vauclair; his brother Fred Sparkes and wife Eileen in New Westminster, B.C. and sister-in-law Clara Sparkes of Duncan, B.C., also many relatives and friends in Winnipeg and the West Coast. Art and Rose were married November 14, 1936 and for many years operated the Roseberry Dairy in St. James. Art was a member of the Sturgeon Creek Lodge No. 145. He was a member of the Manitoba Dog and Gun Club and won many ribbons and trophies with his Labrador dogs. He was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He very much enjoyed being with his family and enjoyed the time spent at his home in Petersfield. Cremation has taken place and by Dads request, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, MB, R3J 3M7. The family wishes to thank Jack McLean and everyone else who visited Dad these last few years. Our sincere appreciation to the staff and homecare workers at Metropolitan Kiwanis Courts and staff at Deer Lodge Centre 2 South and to Dr. Mosher for their kind care of Dad. Dad, you will always be in our hearts.
