DIONE SUNSHINE Those who shared in her life, wish to mark the passing of Dione Sunshine, at age 31 years, who died peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, on January 16, 2000. Dione is survived by her mother Linda Knight, father Alex Sayer; brothers, Kelsie, Jason, Dusty and Cohen, sisters, Sheila and Twyla; grandparents, Marion and Mike; and Debbie Reynolds, second mother to her. Dione was humbled by the generosity and loving support of those who were part of her life, especially her family, Debbie Reynolds, Sister Leslie of Rossbrook House, Connie Merasty, Gloria Enns and Street Connections staff, Manitoba Aboriginal AIDS Task Force, Village Clinic, staff of the Palliative Care Unit, St. Boniface Hospital, the Advisory Committee of Taking Care of Business, and all the girls. Funeral services were held at St. Marys Roman Catholic Church, Saskatoon, SK on January 21, with interment in Saskatoon. Friends in Winnipeg remembered her at Sharing Circles at Sunshine House and Street Connections on Friday, January 21, 2000, with stories and memories of the humour, intelligence and energy that were her remarkable gifts. Her life was testimony to the spirit that drove her. It was an honour to know her.
