ANASTASIA RUZYCKI (MARTINUIK) On Sunday, January 2, 2000 at 11:15 p.m., our beautiful Rose was given to God, for his eternal garden. Anastasia was born on June 1, 1909 in Portage la Prairie, Man. to Anna and Michael Martinuik. January 22, 1929, Mom married Dmytro (Danny), a gentle and very loving man, in Portage la Prairie. Mom lived in many small towns in Sask., the later being Saltcoats, before Dads retirement from the C.P.R. as Section Foreman, retiring in 1962 to Winnipeg. Throughout Moms life, she suffered many ups and downs with poor health, but her very strong faith, love and support from her husband and children gave her the will to go on. Daily prayer, meditation, rosary and attending masses were never excluded and were lived. Our mother was a member of the C.W.L. throughout her life. Mom was a wonderful and caring, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. "The Best", a gentle radiant "Angel". Her baking, cooking, home and all necessities to family were Moms happiness and joy, to the end of her journey on earth, she maintained very high standards. In earlier years, Moms beautiful crocheting was displayed throughout our home: Daffodil, grape, pineapple and other beautiful doilies, whatever the occasion or season being, as well as many afghans, knitting and embroidery. She truly created her masterpieces of love. Prior to the Concordia Personal Care Unit, Mom was a resident of Transcona Place, where she made many new friendships. Our mother loved people and being friends to everyone, she was loyal and smiles always radiated her face. Mom was amazing in her struggle with cancer, she was a fighter, not giving in to adversity, and gave us strength when the battle became so difficult. Left to cherish many memories are her children; son, Michael Russell (Marilyn) and grandchildren, Monty, Monica, Marijane Gesyler (Allen) daughter Alice Risling (Frank) and grandchildren, Diane Hrabok (Greg) and great-grandchildren, Brennan, Corey, Todd, Karen Nogier (Mark) and great-grandchildren, Alysia, Anthony, Donovan, Jarred, Amanda; and daughter Shirley Savage (Stan) and grandchildren, Colin, Carla Slipec (Brian) and great-grandchild Matthew. Our mother is also survived by her only remaining sister Marie Capp (Michael) and nephew Ron. As well, Mom is survived by brother-in-law Maurice Wolfe and family; sister-in-law Stella Martin and niece Joyce; Michael Keenan (Dianne) and family, Pat Keenan and family. Their honours, The Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba and Mrs. Shirley A. Liba and family, Ted Liba (Pat) and family. Prayer service will be on Thursday, January 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street at Luxton Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 7 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 425 Rosseau Avenue East, Transcona. Rev. Father Lucien Roy officiating. Entombment following Church Service at Assumption Chapel Mausoleum, 3990 Portage Avenue. "And He will raise you up on eagles wings, bear you on the breath of dawn, make you to shine like the sun, and hold you in the palm of His hand." Rest in Peace, Dear One.
