VIVIAN DALLY (HATHAWAY) Peacefully on Monday, January 3, 2000, at Oakview Extendicare in Winnipeg, Man. Born Sarah Vivian Hathaway, in Dand, Man. on May 15, 1901, she will be largely remembered for her love of music and piano playing. For many years she and her dance band, "The Kentonaires" entertained in and around Kenton, Man. where she lived until 1950. After living in Indianhead, Sask. for three years, she moved to Winnipeg. In 1970, she and fiddler, Sam Muirhead, produced an album entitled, "Manitoba Centennial 70" with many original pieces. In later years, she and her brother Frank Hathaway, who played the clarinet and the saxophone, provided entertainment at Senior homes throughout Winnipeg. She loved to write poetry as well as music. Her favourites topics were always her family, her home and her country, for whom she wrote, "This Canada of Mine". She served as a member of the WI during the war to send supplies to troops abroad. Deeply moved by the loss of life during the war she wrote, "For Those Who Grieve", a beautiful Remembrance Day tribute. Her talent for telling wry, often hysterically funny recounts of memorable experiences has left us with a legacy of family life testaments like no other. We will love, laugh and live better for having had her in our lives and forever in our hearts. She is survived by daughter Marlene; son Barrie and his wife Joan; grandchildren, Allen, Marke, Vicky and husband Russ, and Patty and husband Don; great-grandchildren, Randy, Drury, Tricia, Tara, Josh, Jeremy; and great-grandchildren Danielle, Alain and their mother Angele of Hull, QC. Vivian was predeceased by sister Phyllis; brothers, Warren and Frank; son-in-law Drury; granddaughter-in-law Karen; and great-granddaughter Susie. "Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life." Berthold Auerbach Sincere thanks to the staff of Oakview Extendicare for their care and compassion. Funeral arrangements in care of Chapel Lawn Funeral Home.
