Date of Passing: Jan 01, 2000
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVICTORIA FINNEY Wife of David; mother of Fay Krause and Sandy James. Mom left us quietly on the evening of January 1, 2000 at the Concordia Hospital. She was born on January 18, 1923 in Theodore, Saskatchewan. She left the farm at an early age to contribute to the war effort in Malton, Ont. Here she installed armour plate on Lancaster Bombers. She later worked in Sunny Brook Military Hospital, King George Hospital and Deer Lodge Hospital. Mom was a long time member of Elmwood Legion #9 Ladies Auxiliary. Mom had a green thumb and took great pride in the greenery she could nurse back to health. Friends would bring her their ailing plants and she would usually manage to restore their beauty. Summers were never complete if she did not get out berry or mushroom picking, or just simply walk in the woods. Mom was predeceased by her parents John and Mary Kozak; siblings Peter Kozak, Steve Kozak, Bill Kozak, George Kozak and Doris Zaharia. She is survived by her husband Dave; daughters Fay (Ernie) Krause and Sandy (Brian) James; grandchildren Ernie (Cathy) Krause, Lisa (Rick) Krause-Gray, Deanna (Dan) Smith, Shirley Krause, Colin James and Brett James; great grandchildren Alyssa Krause-Gray, Zachary Krause and Danny Smith; sister Polly Kwasnitza; sisters-in-law Pauline and Helen Kozak; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews across Canada. From a heart attack that occurred 16 years ago and her failing health since, she became a frequent resident at the Concordia, St. Boniface and Misericordia Hospitals for short periods of time. The family would to thank the staff of the Concordia Hospital in particular for the patience, kindness and care of Mom. Thank you to Rita and Alice on 3 West for their sincere concern and compassion at the end. Cremation has taken place. Ashes will be interred at a later date. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 11:00 a.m. at Grey Street United Church, Grey and Sandhurst, Winnipeg. Reverend Gordon Fulford officiating. Flowers gratefully declined. Those who wish may donate to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Association, Manitoba Diabetes Association or a charity of their choice. Funeral arrangements are in care of Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Winnipeg. We enter life on a flowing tide; linger awhile to leave our mark, then slip back out to sea..... Dave
