ELIGIO GERBASI Beloved father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother, brother-in-law and friend. Born March, 20, 1920 Lappano, Cosenza, Calabria, Italy, passed away peacefully with family on December 31, 1999 (7:00 p.m.) at the Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg after a ten year battle with cancer. Predeceased by his greatest supporter and wife Yvette Gerbasi (Hebert), December 20, 1997. He is survived by his son Victor and Rosemary Gerbasi, grandson Antony of Oakbank; and son Gerald and Sharon Gerbasi of North Vancouver, B.C.; and his best friend - Queenie. Also survived by brothers, Vic and Penny, Sam and Ellen. Sisters, Yolanda and Angelo, Mafalda and Eddy. Sister-in-law Jean wife of deceased brother Frank; loving nephews, nieces, cousins, special friends, Lorraine and Bill Burton (Grant Rogers), Basil Potter of Victoria, B.C. and neighbour George Aggelopoulos of Winnipeg. Eligio was also predeceased by his father Salvatore, mother Guditta and brothers, Frank and Michael, all of Cosenza, Italy. Special thanks to the staff at the Health Science Centre Cancer Clinic and the Riverview Health Centre. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 6 at 1:00 p.m at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens and a reception will be in the parish hall. Donations in lieu of flowers to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7 or the Riverview Health Centre, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 9Z9.
